In his role as Professor of Research Radiology (Keck Medicine of USC) and Biomedical Engineering (USC Viterbi School of Engineering), he created and co-directed the Center for Health Informatics, a Division of the Information Sciences Institute. The center innovated new technologies and data science methods for healthcare, the life sciences, and clinical research. In 2019 Dr. Erberich was appointed as the first Chief Data Officer of CHLA. In this role, Dr. Erberich is leading data science, basic and clinical research informatics & analytics, and research IT at CHLA. He is responsible for developing and executing the organization’s data strategy and creating data solutions for basic, translational, and clinical research required to meet the research enterprise’s needs and clinical innovation at CHLA. With particular emphasis on emerging trends in big data, machine learning, and high-performance computing, Dr. Erberich is responsible for fostering data-driven approaches, bringing together interdisciplinary teams of physicians, basic researchers, and data scientist
